Action Alert! Speak Up for Solar

Solar-Panels-300x192Maine Audubon supports the comprehensive solar legislation that was announced recently. We need you to help us support this historic bill.

Take Action!

Please attend the public hearing before the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee and speak in support of LD 1649.

When: Wednesday, March 16, 1:00pm
Where: Room 211 of the
Cross Office Building in Augusta

If you can’t attend, please contact the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee and urge them to support LD 1649. The link above sends you to the committee information. Click on each legislator’s name to get their contact information.

LD 1649 would give Maine a big boost: it ensures that in the next five years Maine will have more than ten times more solar installed than we have today – from rooftops to solar farms.

If you can, please come early and show your support for solar power in the morning:

Between 8:30-9:15am we will meet at NRCM’s office for an introduction. There is a parking garage and lots of parking near the NRCM office, which is across from the State House. Then at 9:30am we’ll don yellow solar t-shirts and walk over to the State House together so you can speak directly with your legislators about solar power. At 11:30am we’ll return to NRCM’s office for pizza before walking over to the public hearing that begins at 1:00pm.

If you can help build a solar-powered future for Maine by making your voice heard in Augusta on March 16, please RSVP todayIt’s okay if you can only come for part of the day!

For more details, go to our website.

LD 1649 has strong, broad support from Maine solar companies, the environmental community, towns, community leaders and many others. This is a strong, well-developed solar policy, which Maine has lacked for years. Maine Audubon and others will continue to push for a final bill that includes adequate safeguards to protect solar jobs and ensure strong new solar energy rates.

Please join us in supporting this historic legislation.
