Forestry for Maine Birds Workshop at Rangeley Birding Festival

This field workshop is designed for foresters, landowners, and loggers interested in learning how to manage forestlands “with birds and other wildlife in mind.” Participants will learn to recognize different forest types and habitat features that various birds need, and learn to identify some of 20 priority bird species by sight and sound.  You will practice conducting “handy habitat assessments,” learn about the best silvicultural treatments to use to enhance habitat for fish, birds, and other wildlife, and discuss the global importance of the Maine woods for migratory birds.
Free but registration is required through Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust.
