Connections: A Blanding’s Turtle Story Walk

It’s almost time to start watching for turtles crossing the road. As turtles emerge from their winter brumation (the reptile and amphibian version of hibernation), they look for places to lay eggs. One way to learn about this is to read A Blanding’s Turtle Story, a picture book written by Melissa Kim and illustrated by Jada Fitch. If you can, visit Gilsland Farm Audubon Center to take a walk and read the book at the same time, on our seasonal story walk.

For those of you who can’t make it to Falmouth, the author has made this video for you!

On our Blanding’s Turtle Story webpage, you’ll find lots of great resources including coloring pages, instructions on what to do if you see a turtle crossing the road, and a teaching guide with lessons and activities to enhance your reading of the book. Look out for turtles!
