Borestone Naturalist Series: Botany with Arthur Haines

Join us for this special series of guided walks to explore the natural and ecological features at Borestone.

The Borestone Mountain Audubon Sanctuary spans many diverse natural communities, some of which can only be found in a few places with similar geology, elevation, and remoteness.  Perhaps no one knows the plants and plant habitats of the Western Maine mountains better than Arthur Haines, senior research botanist for Native Plant Trust, author of the compendium Flora Novae Angliae: A Manual for the Identification of Native and Naturalized Higher Vascular Plants of New England, and resident of the Western Maine mountains.  Join us at the nature center to “botanize Borestone” by visiting its many special plants and habitats while guided by a local human treasure.

$10 member, $15 nonmember

Note: This program starts at the Visitor Center at Sunrise Pond located at the top of the access road. Participants will need to allow time to hike up the steep access road (1.3 mi) prior to the start of the program. Program fee includes the gate admission.
