Outdoor Afro Binocular Drive

Spring migration is right around the corner, and we’re hoping to help beginner or backyard birders this season by donating binoculars. If you have gently used binoculars, please consider donating them to Maine’s Outdoor Afro network. Outdoor Afro is a community that reconnects African-Americans with natural spaces and one another through recreational activities such as camping, hiking, biking, birding, fishing, gardening, skiing, and more.

We’ll have a drop-off bin located at the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center, 20 Gilsland Farm Road, Falmouth, from February 17 to March 17. The drop-off bin, at the entrance to the Visitor Center, is accessible Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. Birding binoculars will help Outdoor Afro’s new or beginner birders here in Maine enjoy the wonders of spring migration. Please be thoughtful–no damaged optics or binoculars that are ready for retirement!
