Summer is a great time to explore

Summer is a great time to explore Gilsland Farm, and we have plenty of opportunities to get your family outdoors and learning about wildlife together! We have several new programs this year, so take a look.

Read & Ramble: Join us for an outdoor storytime, geared towards children ages 3-5 and their grown-ups. After reading a book or two, we’ll set you up with a related, self-paced activity to enjoy on the trails. Choose one of two, back-to-back sessions: 9:30-10 am, or 10:30-11 am.

Habitat Investigations: Meet up for a hands-on exploration of one of Gilsland Farm’s many habitats. What will you discover as you get to know some of the plants and animals that live there? Meadows, ponds, and forests, we have them all. Tuesdays, 2-3:30 pm.

Create with Nature: Let the natural world inspire you in these outdoor art sessions, featuring projects that interweave art and science. Thursdays, 2-3:30 pm.

Explore on your own with Nature Explorer Backpacks

Check out one of three themed packs to explore birds, plants & insects, or nature study skills during your visit to Gilsland Farm. All packs include tools such as binoculars, magnifiers, or bug jars, field guides and other resources, and more! Available daily from the Nature Store, 11 am-6 pm.

Planning your visit:

Please note that to protect our young campers, some parts of the Visitor Center, including the restrooms and Discovery Room, will be closed to the public when summer camps are in session. Porta-potties are always available and the Nature Store will remain open (masks required). Summer camps run 9 am-3 pm during the weeks of July 12-16, July 26-30, August 9-13, and August 23-26.

We look forward to seeing you at Gilsland Farm!
