We are thrilled to announce the slate of presenters for the next installment of Phenomenal: Fall 2026, our bi-annual storytelling event. Join us for a cozy and entertaining evening of live storytelling focused on nature’s many wondrous responses to the onset of winter.
The leaves are dropping, migration is winding down, and our human clocks have been set back, which can only mean the thick of fall is upon us. Maine’s most photogenic season will soon turn to brown. There’s no need to remind you where things are headed! The natural world tells us everything we need to know about time and place, and this place we know broadly as Maine is telling us to gather to listen to some experts tell their stories.
Our storytellers are naturalists, artists, foragers, and Wabanaki cultural knowledge sharers. Each of them has chosen two stories which connect them, and which they’ll share to help connect us, to this season in Maine and beyond. Our curated panel of guests will tell stories around our evening’s theme, with time for questions afterward.
This will be presented as a hybrid program, so you can either join from home or gather with us in Falmouth. For folks attending in person, we’ll have time to mingle, and beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, and snacks will be provided.
Here’s the storyteller lineup for Thursday, December 3, at 7 pm:
Catherine Gordon is an outdoorswoman, a licensed Maine Guide, and former teacher who also serves on the Advisory Council for Maine Inland Fisheries & Wildlife.
Bird Warde is a queer artist, naturalist, businessperson, and adopter of a pet pigeon. Bird’s nature-themed illustration features prominently in Camp Mustelid, an online shop they help run.
Harley Bassett is a Passamaquoddy citizen, educator, and artisan who works with schools across Portland and beyond to integrate Wabanaki Studies through fieldwork and classroom visits.
Louis Giller is a forager, educator, cultivator, and mycology (mushrooms and other fungi) expert at North Spore, an urban mushroom farm in Portland.
Register for the Phenomenal: Fall 2026 storytelling event today, to attend either in person at Gilsland Farm or online via Zoom. Check back for official bios and more information as the event date approaches.
