York County
An ‘AUDUBON’S’ YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was photographed at Fort Foster in Kittery on the 27th. This bird was still present on the 30th.
On the 28th, a young GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was photographed along Blackberry Hill Road in Berwick.
Two PACIFIC LOONS were reported from Marginal Way in Ogunquit on the 30th.
Greater Portland
An adult GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was found in the fields at Smiling Hill Farm on October 28th and was still present as of November 1st. Smiling Hill Farm is located at 781 County Road in Westbrook.
Capisic Pond Park, off Capisic Street in Portland, hosted a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT on the 29th.
On the 31st, a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was found in the North Meadow of Gilsland Farm in Falmouth.
A LARK SPARROW was reported from the feeders at the Freeport Wild Bird Supply store off Route 1 in Freeport on the 26th.
An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen at Hedgehog Mountain in Freeport on the 30th.
Kennebec River Valley (Augusta-Waterville)
On the 26th, a DICKCISSEL was reported from Unity.
Midcoast
A probable BELL’S VIREO was reported from Cape Small in Phippsburg on the 30th.
Late flycatchers from Monhegan Island this week included: an EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE on the 28th and 30th, plus a LEAST FLYCATCHER and GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER on the 29th.
Downeast
On the 30th, a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was seen at the Mount Desert Island High School.
Continuing from October 23rd, a WHITE-EYED VIREO was reported again from the Ingersoll Point Preserve in Addison on the 27th. The bird had previously been reliable near the intersection of the Alder Woods Trail and the Beach Trail on the northeastern point of the preserve.
A well described ROCK WREN was reported from the shore of Bog Brook Cove in Trescott on October 29th. This species has yet to be fully documented in Maine.
Western Mountains
On the afternoon of the 26th, five SANDHILL CRANES were seen in Fryeburg in the sod fields close to Route 113.
