York County
A deceased LONG-EARED OWL found in a yard along Fortunes Rocks in Biddeford on the 6th.
Up to eight SNOWY OWLS continue to be seen regularly around Biddeford Pool this week.
Greater Portland
A SWAMP SPARROW was found at Village Crossings in Cape Elizabeth on the 5th.
An injured LINCOLN’S SPARROW continues to be seen at feeders along Bradley Street in Portland.
Lewiston-Auburn
A SNOWY OWL was seen along King Road, across from Mockingbird Lane, in Sabattus on the 8th.
Kennebec River Valley (Augusta-Waterville)
On the 4th, a SNOWY OWL was found above a farmhouse on Hinckley Road in Clinton. This location is about a mile north of Tardiff Road, and the bird was still being seen as of the 10th near the address: 839 Hinckley Road.
Midcoast
Continuing from January 2nd, immature RED-HEADED WOODPECKER is still being seen along Whiskeag Road in Bath as of the 10th. Most observations are near the Whiskeag Creek, near the address: 166 Whiskeag Road, Bath.
An immature GOLDEN EAGLE, apparently the second of the winter for this location, continued throughout the week at the Bath Landfill, located at the end of Detritus Drive.
On the 4th, a SNOWY OWL was seen on New Sand Island near Popham Beach State Park.
A SNOWY OWL was reported on the afternoon of the 5th near the Herring Gut Learning Center in Port Clyde.
A TOWNSEND’S SOLITAIRE was photographed on Matinicus Island during the Christmas Bird Count there on the 5th.
Penobscot Bay
A female NORTHERN PINTAIL and an AMERICAN COOT continued through this week in the Camden Harbor.
On the 5th, a SNOWY OWL was photographed on Beech Hill in Rockport.
Another SNOWY OWL was found along Perkins Road at the south end of Belfast on the 8th. This bird was still being seen here on the 9th.
Central Maine
Since November 12th, a NORTHERN HAWK OWL has been seen near the intersection of Route 116 (Penobscot Valley Ave / Route 95 Connector Road) and Route 2 (West Broadway). Following a dearth of reports, the bird was seen again on January 8th atop the pine trees at the northwest corner of this intersection. On the 9th it was seen at the intersection and later further east near the railroad tracks.
Downeast
A deceased PURPLE GALLINULE was found in Trenton on the 8th.
