Maine Climate Action Plan 2.0 Released

After years of work from stakeholders across the state, including Maine Audubon’s Ania Wright, Ches Gundrum, and Sally Stockwell, the state’s updated landmark climate action plan, Maine Won’t Wait 2.0, has been released.

The plan updates the original blueprint for statewide climate action, released in 2020, with new-and-improved strategies to help modernize Maine’s buildings, transition to a clean energy economy, and protect our environment. Here’s the plan so you can review it for yourself!

This climate plan outlines the work Maine needs to do to limit the worst impacts of climate change, and protect Mainers and Maine wildlife. The impacts of climate change have become even more evident since the first climate action plan in 2020 (click here to read the report drafted with input from our Conservation Director Sally Stockwell about the escalating impacts of climate change in Maine), and Maine’s need to act is more urgent than ever. Maine Audubon was honored to help craft this updated plan, and looks forward to working with the Mills Administration and the Maine legislature to put its recommendations into action.

There is a lot to discuss, both about what’s in the new plan and what else needs to be done to limit negative impacts from climate change, so  sign up for updates to stay tuned.

A lot of relevant information about the different subgroups working on the plan can be heard here, in a coalition webinar held this summer.
