Come mingle with wildlife and be inspired!

As your wildlife community, Maine Audubon prides itself on striking the balance between bringing people together to celebrate nature’s many wonders and the severity of potential threats to the wildlife and habitat that are so essential to the identity, ecology, economy, and culture of Maine. In more than a century and a half of engaging people in education, conservation, and action in this specific place we call home, we have become increasingly certain of two things: (a) we need more people to learn about and address the combined impacts of climate change and development on wildlife and (b) the awe of an up-close wildlife encounter, especially when experienced amidst a community with which to share the joy, can further motivate, sustain, and inspire that work.

That combination and approach is exactly why we love hosting seasonal Wildlife Mingle events at Gilsland Farm, featuring our friends at Center for Wildlife, a wildlife rehabilitation and conservation medicine organization in Cape Neddick, Maine. Whether you’re hoping for an inside look at a wildlife rehabilitation clinic—how do you care for a Spotted Salamander who is disturbed midwinter?—or look forward to hobnobbing with birds of prey, you’re bound to have a good time at the Winter Wildlife Mingle on March 5.

Bob Dale and Josh Bower will start us off with a short indoor presentation beginning at 6:30 pm. We’ll hear stories and statistics from this past season in their medical clinic (including more about those aforementioned salamanders!), and about the importance of education and outreach in addressing threats to wildlife.

Then, it’s time to mingle, both with each other and up close and personal with those charismatic animal ambassadors! Your ticket includes admission, plus snacks and drinks, with Allagash beer, wine, and nonalcoholic seltzer provided. Center for Wildlife staff and volunteers will set up stations indoors and out (thanks to our trusty patio heaters) where guests can visit and take selfies with an assortment of non-releasable wildlife ambassadors.

Tickets are selling fast! Buy yours today.
