Bird Feeding News from the Nature Store

Good news from the Nature Store! We will now be carrying several Aspen Song Wild Bird Food seed mixes — as well as your favorite single seeds like Black Oil and Shell-less sunflower — in our Gilsland Farm store.

We all know that native habitat and fresh water can increase bird and wildlife visitors to your yard. Combining that with high quality birdseed can help determine which birds you see, how long they stay, and how frequently they return. Since a healthy diet is a matter of survival for songbirds, they innately seek food sources that provide needed energy and balance their nutritional needs.

Aspen Song offers high quality seed blends — clean with less dust — that provide excellent nutritional value for your favorite backyard feathered friends.  The new customized mixes have been created for the broadest appeal to various categories of seed-eating birds. With the support of Aspen Song, we will also be offering a customer loyalty program! Stop by and see me, or give me a call in the Nature Store, for details.

And while you’re here, be sure to check out an array of new items and returning favorites to satisfy any nature lover on your list — from Folkmanis puppets for the kids to Swarovski binoculars and scopes for the avid birder in the family. Beautiful ornaments and fun stocking stuffers by Maine artists fill the store as well. Charming bird paintings and sketches by Alyssa Watters of Art by Alyssa, currently hanging in the Gilsland Farm Gallery, are a perfect size for gift-giving, too.

Finally, don’t forget to mark your calendars for our Bird Feeding Celebration on January 26! From 10 am-3 pm at Gilsland Farm, we will have bird feeding and behavior experts on hand, a representative from Swarovski Optics, and the Director of Aspen Song to chat, answer questions, troubleshoot, and talk all things birdfeeding.

Hope to see you soon!
