The 2018 Maine legislative session starts now

The second session of the 128th Maine Legislature is upon us, and Maine Audubon’s advocacy team is in full gear. We’re prepared to advance protections for water, land, and wildlife, and defend against efforts to undermine existing environmental safeguards.

We’re going to need your help. In order for us to keep you up-to-date on what’s happening — and what you can do — please be sure you are signed up to receive our Action Alerts.

The session is sure to be controversial and politically-charged, with a looming election and the option for the Governor to submit bills at any time. We’ll be keeping a close eye on those bills in case Governor LePage takes a final swipe at Maine’s environment on his way out the door.

This session, Maine Audubon will focus our advocacy on:

  • Enhancing protection for our native Brook Trout
  • Increasing funding to replace stream crossings that are barriers to fish and wildlife
  • Advancing solar policy
  • Protecting coastal and inland water quality
  • Supporting energy efficiency investments

Our voice in the State House is stronger when you’re a part of it. Sign up for our Action Alerts to learn when and how to contact your legislators and encourage them to safeguard are water, land, and wildlife.

Together, we can ensure Maine’s wildlife thrives.
