Gilsland Farm Volunteer Work Day
Work alongside Maine Audubon’s Land Steward to help rebuild a section of fencing that’s in place to help protect the eroding bank of the West Meadow. Volunteers will spend the afternoon hauling out materials for the new fence, demolishing the existing fence, digging holes for new posts, and working to construct a more sustainable structure.
Volunteers will hike approximately a half mile, while carrying up to 20 pounds. Participants should be comfortable working in direct sunlight and be willing to use hand tools such as a post digger, shovels, hammers, folding saws, loppers, and cordless power drills.
Maine Audubon will provide all the necessary tools and will have a water cooler on site for bottle refills.
There will be bathroom facilities located in the Visitor Center. The project site will be approximately 0.3-0.5 miles away from the facilities.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Maine Audubon’s Land Steward, Liz Thibault at lthibault@maineaudubon.org.
