Forestry for Maine Birds assessment

Forestry for Maine Birds and Fish! Field Workshop at Fields Pond

Did you know that fish depend on healthy forest habitats in addition to birds? Come to Fields Pond Audubon Center to learn how to manage your woodland to enhance habitat for breeding birds and fish. This field workshop will be led by Sally Stockwell and David Lamon from Maine Audubon, and will cover the global importance of Maine’s forests for both breeding birds and native fish, give you an opportunity to conduct a ‘handy habitat assessment’, highlight the importance of protecting shoreland habitat with big old trees and lots of shade, and visit a site that has been restored to enhance fish passage in the Sedgeunkedunk Stream. Open to foresters, forest landowners, loggers, and other interested folks! Wear good walking shoes and bring water, lunch, and your curiosity.

Maine Audubon strives to provide inclusive and accessible programs for all members of the community. If you require accommodations to participate in this program, please email events@maineaudubon.org. Maine Audubon can best meet the needs of requests submitted at least seven days before the event start date.
