American Chestnut Restoration: Film & Planting Workshop at Fields Pond
Join us at Fields Pond Audubon Center for a screening of Clear Day Thunder: Rescuing the American Chestnut. This compelling 51-minute documentary chronicles the remarkable history of the American Chestnut, once known as the “redwood of the East,” and its devastating loss to chestnut blight in the early 20th century. The film explores ongoing restoration efforts to bring this iconic tree back from the brink of extinction. Following the screening, participants will have the opportunity to plant American Chestnut seedlings, directly contributing to the restoration of this native species to its historic range. Armed with this new knowledge, we’ll put conservation into action to support the resilience of nature.
