Below are tools you can use to prepare for the upcoming election, including information on registering to vote and early voting, plus answers to frequently asked questions about the election process.
Voting Resources
The State of Maine Voter Guide has a number of important resources, including:
- Voter Registration guide;
- Local voting information;
- Information on Early and Absentee Voting in Maine. Note that absentee ballots must be returned to your municipal clerk by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
The ACLU Maine Know Your Voting Rights page is an essential resource for those who are unsure about whether they can vote.
Disability Rights Maine’s Voting Access website has information about access to polling places, registering to vote, and casting a ballot.
2024 Referendum Questions
This year, in addition to local elections, Maine voters will cast their votes on
five separate statewide referendums. An overview of the five questions from the State of Maine can be found on the State’s website here, along with the State’s detailed Maine Citizen’s Guide to the Referendum Election (PDF).
Question 4, the Maine Trails Bond, is particularly important to us. Trails are a critical resource for getting Mainers into nature, but many of them are poorly maintained or badly built. If passed, the Maine Trails Bond would the bond would inject $30 million toward the design, development, and maintenance of non-motorized, motorized, and multi-use trails statewide. We urge you to vote YES on Question 4. Read more on our website here.
We hope that you find this information useful, and that everyone eligible to vote can do so safely and efficiently.
