LD 1626 has been amended. In this new version, a portion of the milfoil sticker money that was sent to the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is being sent to a new account at the Department of Environmental Protection. This new account is specifically designed for eradication. This additional money will be available every year. As a result, the milfoil sticker fee will not be increased. This change came as a result of discussion of key legislators with the Governor. The House has enacted the bill and it now sits on the Legislature’s Appropriations Committee table pending approval.
