LD 1626, Funding for Invasives Eradication, on Appropriations Table

LD 1626 has been amended.  In this new version, a portion of the milfoil sticker money that was sent to the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is being sent to a new account at the Department of Environmental Protection.  This new account is specifically designed for eradication.  This additional money will be available every year.  As a result, the milfoil sticker fee will not be increased.  This change came as a result of discussion of key legislators with the Governor.  The House has enacted the bill and it now sits on the Legislature’s Appropriations Committee table pending approval.  Credit goes to many including the sponsor, Rep. Mike McClellan, Rep. Mike Shaw, Rep. Paul Davis, Rep. Steve Wood, Rep. Ellie Espling, Rep. Dale Crafts, Sen. David Burns, Rep. Lisa Villa, and Rep. Stanley Short.
