Warbler Walks

May 4-8 & May 11-15, 7-9 am

Join Maine Audubon’s Staff Naturalist, Doug Hitchcox, for free bird walks at Evergreen Cemetery in Portland during the peak of warbler migration. These walks will take place each weekday (Monday through Friday) from the 4th through the 15th.

Meet at the south end of the duck ponds (map) and we’ll spend two hours (7-9 am) birding along the paths and trails of Evergreen. Come out for a morning of watching some of North America’s most beautiful birds as they stop to feed in this city-surrounded oasis, before moving on to their breeding grounds.

Most days we only walk ~0.4 miles and stay on the dirt road and trails. Conditions vary based on recent weather, but trails can be quite muddy after rain and some places can have exposed roots to step over. There is a public restroom (vault toilet; no running water) nearby. Accessible by Greater Portland Metro Bus 9A/B. We will have loaner binoculars available.

Maine Audubon strives to provide inclusive and accessible programs for all members of the community. If you require accommodations to participate in this program, please email events@maineaudubon.org. Maine Audubon can best meet the needs of requests submitted at least seven days before the event start date.
