Nocturnal by Nature Series with Deborah Perkins

Join wildlife ecologist Deborah Perkins for a three-part evening lecture and guided walk exploring some of Maine’s most fascinating nocturnal and crepuscular wildlife. Each session begins with a short indoor presentation, followed by a walk at Gilsland Farm to observe and listen for wildlife in real time.

The series will focus on fireflies, bats, and birds, highlighting their ecology, seasonal activity, and the habitats that support them. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of these species and how to better observe and support them in the landscape. Sign up for one or all three!

Nocturnal by Nature: Migrating Birds!

Join us for a well-timed seasonal program about migrating birds, and how you can help them journey safely on their way.

In the final part of the series, ecologist Deborah Perkins will focus on the migratory stage of a bird’s life cycle and how we can support their (mostly nocturnal) flights.

Songbirds in particular face an array of challenges during fall migration, and each one of us can do something to help.
