Gilsland Farm Audubon Center, Falmouth

Native Plant Care Assistants

Do you love plants and the great outdoors? We are looking for volunteers at Gilsland Farm to help us with our native plants!

Shifts are generally 2- 4 hours in length and take place sometime between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. We need people 7 days a week and are generally flexible, but we ask that once you commit to the shift that you do make every effort to fulfill that agreed upon schedule.

Visitor Center Volunteer
Visitor Services Volunteers welcome all visitors to Gilsland Farm Visitor Center and help them find what they’re looking for. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet people and share interests in nature. Please email Jill Valley-Orlando for more information.


Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center, Scarborough

Nature Store Attendants: Duties may include using the register, organizing and stocking store merchandise, answering the phone, greeting visitors and assisting with canoe rental. 4 hour shifts.

Canoe Rental Attendants: Duties may include: processing paperwork, explaining directions and safety procedures, handing out life jackets and paddles, moving boats on/off racks and assisting visitors in/out of boats. 4 hour shifts.

Monitoring Projects: Twice a summer we monitor bird populations at the marsh via foot, canoe or kayak. We also have a Biodiversity Day where we monitor marsh insects and plants. You do not need to be an expert to help. We provide training. 3 hour shifts.

Nature Center Leaders: Lead groups of all ages on explorations through the marsh. Duties may include leading walks, discussing animal mounts, maintaining interactive activities, greeting visitors and answering questions. 4 hour shifts.


Fields Pond Audubon Center, Holden

Educational Guide

The main activity of the Educational Guide is to help assist with educational programs for families and youth at the Fields Pond Audubon Center. The EG needs an appreciation for the natural world, and a desire to share this enthusiasm with people of all ages. This position requires public speaking and positive group management skills.

Visitor Services Volunteer

Visitor Services (VS) volunteers help broaden the public’s knowledge, appreciation, and enjoyment of Fields Pond Audubon Center. As a principal contact person for information about Fields Pond, VS volunteers greet visitors at the Center’s reception desk, respond to phone inquiries, process sales in the Nature Store, help maintain outdoor bird feeding stations, and assist with staff projects. This position requires attention to detail and a friendly, easy-going manner.
