York County
A BARNACLE GOOSE was seen in flight from Marginal Way on the morning of the 29th and then spent at least four days in Moody Marsh.
On the 2nd, a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen on Stage Island from Cape Porpoise.
A pair of WOOD DUCKS was seen from Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco on the 4th.
Greater Portland
The overwintering GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE continues to be seen around the Portland and Falmouth.
Highlights from the Scarborough Marsh include a drake CANVASBACK, an AMERICAN WIGEON, two GREEN-WINGED TEALS, and several NORTHERN PINTAILS on the 2nd. On the 4th, a BARROW’S GOLDENEYE and three RING-NECKED DUCKS were also seen here.
A SNOWY OWL was seen throughout the day on the 3rd while it roosted on the Osprey platform in the North Meadow of the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center.
A large flock of 3000 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen in Gray on the west side of the Route 26 bypass from the 28th through March 2nd.
Kennebec River Valley (Augusta-Waterville)
34 HORNED LARKS were seen this week at the Flood Brothers Farm on River Road in Clinton.
Midcoast
On the 3rd, a drake EURASIAN WIGEON was found in Maquoit Bay from Wharton Point in Brunswick with three AMERICAN WIGEONS.
A flock of 550 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen from Pork Point Road in Bowdoinham on the 3rd.
Up to 15 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS continued at the Buffalo Farm off Ridge Road in Bath until at least the 29th.
Penobscot Bay
A LARK SPARROW was seen on the 4th in the vicinity of 17 Pacific Street in Rockland.
The ‘OREGON’ DARK-EYED JUNCO which first visited private feeders in Camden on January 13th returned on March 1st.
Central Maine
On the 27th there was a flock of 150 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS at Unity College and 150 SNOW BUNTINGS on Quaker Hill Road in Unity.
The NORTHERN HAWK OWL in West Palmyra was seen again on the 29th.
Downeast
Three AMERICAN WIGEONS were spotted from the Somesville Dam on Mount Desert Island on the 28th.
A COMMON GOLDENEYE X HOODED MERGANSER hybrid was relocated on the 27th off of Station Road near Jacksonville.
Northern Maine
A SNOWY OWL and ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK continue to be seen around the “PT” barn on Route 1 north of Presque Isle.
