The Maine Loon Restoration Project: Find Out How to Help Us! (Online)

The Maine Loon Restoration Project: Find Out How to Help Us Hatch More Loon Chicks on Maine Lakes & Reduce Loon Mortality

Does the sight of a fluffy chick or the haunting wail of a loon leave you feeling like you want to get more involved in protecting loons? Come join us for this webinar to learn more about the Common Loon and how you can join more than 100 volunteers who are working with us in a new project! Learn to help loons that struggle to hatch chicks and protect them from boat strikes, nesting disturbance, harassment, and lead poisoning. We’ll cover the traits that make loons well adapted to the lake environment and at the same time vulnerable to impacts; how to tell if a loon nesting platform might be right for your lake or pond; the Look out for Loons program; and how lead tackle exchanges and buyback programs are helping to reduce one of the leading causes of loon mortality in Maine.
