Birding Basics: Tools of the Trade

Back by popular demand and moved online, we will spend a few weeks revisiting the basics of birding. This is the perfect opportunity for people newly interested in birding, novices needing a refresher, and for even the ‘pros’ to learn something new. Every two weeks we will cover a different topic that is essential to birding. You can review the courses and join us for the topics that interest you!

Tools of the Trade: We’ll start with the essentials: binoculars and field guides. Which ones are best? Are expensive binoculars actually worth it? Once we’ve covered the physicals tools, we’ll take a look at virtual ones: apps, eBird, and more! By the end of this program you’ll know what the best resources are for seeing and identifying birds, plus what the ‘pros’ use to learn where those bird are.
