With the debut of the Chickadee Club a few weeks behind us and the sign-up deadline for August/September kits rapidly approaching, you may be wondering: just what is in those kits, anyway? Here’s a little peek at what July/August members received:
Our goal each month is to put together a bundle of activities that will inspire nature exploration, creative play, and experimentation. True to our environmental values, we’ve tried to use recycled, recyclable, and low-impact materials and packaging in putting it all together. The kits contain enough materials for each child to do each activity once, but we hope (and expect!) that they’ll want to try some of them again or add to what’s there. For example, who could make just one climbing creature? And the beauty of an activity like making a nature journal or seed balls is that it’s just the beginning–soon it’s time to decorate and use the journal, or scout for a place to toss the seed balls.
Each kit also includes a list of important dates and suggested outdoor adventures, plus a few extra goodies. The July kit contained a wooden magnifier, to help explorers take a closer look.
And of course, there’s a mystery animal to solve!
Want in on the fun? You can still purchase access to July/August digital content, or sign up for August/September on our website. Sign-ups for August/September kits must be completed by August 1.
