Our annual Peony Bloom & Ice Cream Social celebrates the amazing Peony Circle of Friends, dedicated members, donors and volunteers who have supported us for over 20 years. The event also celebrates things we enjoy. Thanks to those committed Peony Circle of Friends who make possible our enjoyment of this wonderful sanctuary, its trails, picnic tables, the environmental center, the array of flora and fauna, and yes our peony gardens.

We had record attendance at this year’s event as you can see in the photos below. The gardens were packed, the line for ice cream was really long for two hours straight, and we learned that next year we will plan on having someone coordinate parking. Thank you all for attending!

p.s. Peonies, such a symbol of spring in Maine are at once fragile and fleeting. Come out to Gilsland Farm Audubon Center anytime from dawn to dusk and enjoy a picnic lunch, the trails, our environmental center and the peony gardens. The peonies are in full bloom and should last fine through the weekend.
