Craft Show FAQ

What and when is The Nature of Craft?

This juried event will include ~60 fine artists and artisans, demonstrations, and food trucks.

We are looking for artists and artisans of the highest quality who exemplify the best of Maine. Handmade creations, nature and wildlife related themes, sustainable products, environmentally conscious processes, or items made in Maine.  The majority of the work should be made by the seller. Fine art and craft will be considered and work should include one or more of the above criteria.

Categories include: 2D Art, Ceramics, Fiber, Glass, Jewelry, Metal, Mixed Media, Paper, Stone, Wood

We will be selecting artists based on quality and also so there is an even balance of type of work. Categories like jewelry and ceramics will be highly competitive.

Application and Deadlines

There is a $20 application  fee to be paid by check or credit card. Applications will close in early April. Notifications will be sent out early May.

Location Options

  • Inside the Visitor Center (limited to 11 spaces) – $120
  • Outside under your own 10 x 10 pop up tent. – $90
    (All vendors should be prepared to be outside in the orchard and to bring your own 10′ x 10′ tent. The inside spaces are limited and we cannot guarantee them to anyone.)


We invite artists to set up on Friday, August 28 from 10 am – 6 pm, or on Saturday morning between 7 and 10 am. We will have helpers and garden carts available to carry items from your vehicle to your numbered spot. Vehicles may not be driven into the orchard to drop off your set-up.

During the Show

We offer tent sitters for artists who would like to take a break or are doing a demonstration for the show.

There is a break room with snacks and coffee just for vendors, as well as a bathroom, in the HQ building.

After unloading, all artists must park offsite during the show hours at a designated location and take a shuttle back to Gilsland Farm.  We want to have as many parking spots onsite for customers as possible.

We will have an overnight security guard on Friday and Saturday nights to watch the set-ups and facility.

All set-ups must be removed on Sunday afternoon.
