Every day, people in Maine document the beauty and wonder of Maine’s wildlife and landscapes through photography. Be inspired to connect with nature and share your connection with others – join our inaugural 2014 photo contest!

The contest runs November 1 – December 31, 2014

The winning photos will be published in an upcoming issue of Habitat, Maine Audubon’s quarterly membership journal.

Have you been birding lately? What have you seen? Send us your photos of birds you have seen on a trip, at one of our sanctuaries, in your backyard or on your latest bird walk!

 

OTHER WILDLIFE

Maine has some of the best wildlife in the country. From tiny chipmunks to enormous moose, we want to see your best photos of Maine’s wildlife.

 

PEOPLE ENJOYING NATURE

Maine is known for it’s breathtaking views and friendly people. Submit your photos of friends and family enjoying Maine’s forests, coastline, meadows, mountains and more.

 

MAINE AUDUBON’S CENTERS AND SANCTUARIES

We have eight locations across the state that offer a range of wildlife habitat to explore, with gentle trails and scenic views. Submit photos taken at our locations.

CONTEST RULES

When to Enter –  The contest runs from November 1 to December 31, 2014.

Who Should Enter –  The Maine Audubon Photo Contest is open to photographers of all ages and skill levels. Members and the public are welcome to submit photos. Please limit one photo per category. Each entrant may enter a maximum of four photographs. Maine Audubon staff, board members, and members of their immediate family are not eligible to enter.

Image Size – Because we will feature the winning photos in our newsletter, we ask that you submit high-resolution photographs. Entries should have a resolution of at least 2272 x 1704 pixels (4 mega pixels or greater). Resolution can be bigger as long as the total file size does not exceed 10 MB.

File Type - Entries must be in JPEG format. Entries may originate in any format, including—but not limited to—digital files, digital prints, transparencies, color prints or black and white prints; however they must be submitted electronically via our online submission tool.

Judging – Winners will be selected by a panel of Maine Audubon staff based on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact. Judges shall determine eligibility with sole and absolute discretion. Judges have the right to move photos from one category to another. All decisions made by the judges are final. Judging will take early in 2015 and winners will be announced February 15.

Rights - By entering the photo contest, you hereby grant Maine Audubon nonexclusive, worldwide, irrevocable publication rights for your photos in all Maine Audubon publicity materials, print or electronic, and the right to use your name, city, state and country of residence in such publications. This includes the right to use your photos on our website, social media, in print and electronic advertisements and promotions. All photographs will be credited with the caption “© Person’s Name.”
