  • On Thursday, March 16 at 7:00 p.m. at the Camden Public Library, Mid-Coast Audubon is sponsoring a free multimedia presentation titled Imagine The Maine Woods National Park with the award-winning professional photography team of Lee Ann Szelog and Thomas Mark Szelog and featuring the music of legendary folk singer Pete Seeger.

You will experience an extraordinary journey to one of the last, great, unprotected wilderness areas within the United States, the proposed 3.2 million acre Maine Woods National Park. Lee and Tom will personally guide you into the proposed park to discover the heart of Maine’s Great North Woods, and meet the denizens within their natural habitat, providing a unique opportunity to understand nature’s abundant beauty from a rarely visited wilderness. This is the same forest that Henry David Thoreau explored 150 years ago.

Since 2007 Thomas Mark Szelog and Lee Ann Szelog have been putting a face to the land that is the proposed 3.2 million acre park through their Maine Woods National Park Photo-Documentation Project. The Project provides inspiration, education, and motivation, through photographs and words, to encourage society, nationwide, to work together in the spirit of cooperation to create the Maine Woods National Park for the benefit of nature, wildlife, our planet and all mankind. The Project captures the splendor of the proposed Maine Woods National Park and its riches that deserve protection. To learn more about the Project, visit
