2008 Programs and Events

Project Puffin Visitors Center is bringing back its popular Wednesday Night Speaker’s Series in July.

This summer’s rundown of presentations is:

July 2: “Restoring Endangered Seabirds: Lessons from Puffins and Terns”

July 9: “Keeping Birds and Ships Safe: A History of Matinicus Rock Light Station”

July 16: “Conservation from Mexico to Maine: Preserving the Balance between Native and Introduced Species”

July 23: “Zen and the Art of Seabird Conservation”

Presentations start at 5 p.m. at the center, 311 Main Street in Rockland.

Don’t miss the Third Annual Seabird Celebration Day on Saturday, July 5, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Project Puffin Visitors Center. Among the day’s activities are an owl presentation at 11 a.m., a book signing by A Puffin’s Year author and illustrator Katherine Zecca at noon, games, prizes, cake, and more.

From the north (Camden): U.S. Route 1 South into Rockland. Left onto Park Street/U.S. Route 1 North. Left onto Main Street/U.S. Route 1 North. Visitor Center is nearly immediately on the right.
