  • Salt Marsh by Canoe

    • Grades 7 and up

    This 1 1/2 hour program provides a special opportunity for students to explore the salt marsh. During this unique paddle adventure participants become a part of the dynamic Dunstan River habitat, observing its inhabitants in their natural setting. We will see crabs, fish, feeding birds, edible plants and more!

  • Moonlight Canoeing

    • Location: Fields Pond, Greator Bangor

    Paddle around Fields Pond island and out to the “red bridge”, as waning day becomes moonlit night. Loons, eagles, and herons may grace your trip. Bring your own canoe/kayak or rent one of ours. Heavy rain or thunder would cancel the paddle.

    Join Holly, Maine Audubon naturalist, at Hirundo Wildlife Refuge for a paddle with Gudrun, Hirundo Wildlife Refuge’s onsite naturalist. We’ll keep a sharp eye out for birds, moose, otter and interesting plant life along the way. Canoes available or bring your own boat.

    IMG_1536This 1.5 hour program provides a special opportunity to see the fall changes to the salt marsh. We will see migrating birds (including shorebirds and raptors) and the beautiful fall colors of the many plants of the marsh.

    It is part of the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend.
