  • Location: Gilsland Farm
  • Free

DEJUCome join the Nature Tuesday Group!  We will meet to explore the outdoors at Gilsland Farm and other locations. Adults with any level of knowledge are welcome… we will learn from each other.

Walks are the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month from 1:30 – 3:00 PM and meet rain or shine.

Nature Tuesday will be Jan 10 at 1:30 at PINE POINT BEACH.

We chose this location because it will be a low, low tide at 3:06 PM.  We will be able to see what washes up in the winter on the beach. Marvel at the patterns in the sand And dig for surf clams which you can take home and eat!  Perhaps other mysteries will be under the sand as well.

On our  pre walk we found moonsnail shells 5” across,10” razor clam shells, oyster shells, whelk shells, slipper shells, and more fresh dulse for eating and other seaweeds.

So far the weather  looks good for Tuesday:  sunny, 30 degrees and 5 mph winds.

What to bring:
If it turns out to be more windy you would be glad to have wind pants and face protection, wind proof mittens.
Water proof boots would be helpful.
If you want to dig for hen clams/ surf clams….we use a garden fork (a flat bladed pitch fork) and a bucket and you should bring those.  You will probably get enough for dinner and more.
There were only gulls on our prewalk, but it may be worth bring binocs.
If you are a beach comber, bring bucket or bags.
