If it swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck, right? But did you know there have actually been 45 species of ducks (plus geese and swans) seen in Maine! In this workshop our Staff Naturalist, Doug Hitchcox, will discuss the natural history of this family, the finer points of identifying these species, where and when to see them.
This workshop is highly recommended for anyone coming on the Learn the Ansers Field Trip on March 25th but anyone with an interest in this diverse family should attend.
*Not a typo! – Ansers, short for Anseriformes, are an order of birds that includes all of the ducks, geese, and swans that occur in Maine.
