Camps & Preschool Programs


Preschool Programs are offered throughout the year for children ages 2-5.jumping in line

Summer day camps run throughout the summer at Gilsland Farm Audubon Center (Falmouth) and Fields Pond Audubon Center (Holden) for children age 6-11. We offer unique one and two week sessions that encourage hands-on exploration of the natural world.

Vacation Day Camp is offered during school-vacation weeks in February and April at Gilsland Farm and Fields Pond Audubon Centers for children in grades 1-5. Your child may attend one day or all week! A new nature-based theme is introduced each day.

Financial Aid Available
Through the generosity of local businesses, organizations and individuals, partial scholarships are available for Maine residents who need financial assistance. For more information, please call: (207) 781-2330, ext. 273 or email scholarships@maineaudubon.org.

  • Nature Explorers
    • Monday Dec 29, 2014 9:30 am – 10:30 am
    • Gilsland Farm

    • Member $5 each additional sibling, Non-member $10 each additional sibling
    • Ages 2-6

    Join us for a one hour, drop-in exploration program! Children will have individual time with self-guided learning stations and group time to read a story, explore a mystery bag and learn about a mystery animal.  We will head outside to investigate some of the questions raised in class and everyone will go home with resources on how to further explore the different nature questions we’ve explored.

    This Session: Who sleeps in the winter?

    *No charge for siblings under age two

    This is a drop in program – no registration is required.

  • Look What I Found! Preschool Program

    Join us during school vacation week as we discover the wonders of the natural world at Gilsland Farm! Your child will explore and enjoy nature through free play, stories, songs, movement, games, natural crafts and hikes. Come prepared to be indoors and explore outside.

    Look at the world around you through the eyes of an ecologist and you will be amazed at what you will learn!

    This is a drop-off program just like our Summer and Vacation Camp programs and campers should arrive with a lunch and dressed for the outdoors.  The program runs from 10am to 2pm.

    Children in grades K-5 are invited to register for our February Vacation Camp.  A new theme will be introduced each day through cooperative games, scientific examination and creative arts exploration at Gilsland Farm Audubon Center in Falmouth.

    Our vacation camps are taught by highly trained and experienced environmental educators. Campers may sign up for individual days or attend the entire week.

    • Where are they now?  – tracking for fun and research
    • Backyard birds — who are we seeing and what does that mean?
    • Short migrations, epic journeys – incredible trips that turtles, salamanders, frogs, even bats all make
    • First signs of summer – looking more closely at plant progression and animals migrating back
    • Habitat connections — using mapping and our own creativity to make links for wildlife

    This is a drop-off program just like our Summer and Vacation Camp programs and campers should arrive with a lunch and dressed for the outdoors.  The program runs from 10am to 2pm on consecutive Saturdays.
